# About me

I am Hans Rauer. Since 2018 I have been building the infrastructure that data science and ML teams work on, and I founded Cloudstride to keep doing it.

## Where I come from

My background is mathematics. I studied mathematical finance, and informatics at the Technical University of Munich. From there it is a short way to the teams I work for today: I understand what data scientists want to do with their models, and I know what it takes for those models to run reliably.

At Alexander Thamm GmbH in Munich I built platforms and pipelines for data science projects. After that I worked at TODO(hans): name Plural (approval pending).

I have been independent since May 2024, today as Cloudstride GmbH. One focus since then: tooling and a platform for a team of PhD mathematicians and data scientists at Bayer, through subcontractors, who produce forecasts for steering the company.

## How I work

I like working right inside the team, in the same repositories and the same meetings. I prefer proven, well-understood technology to the newest, as long as it solves the problem. I write decisions down so they still make sense after I have left the project. And I care that your team can run what we built on its own afterwards.

## Where this is going

The next step after models and pipelines is agents: software that carries out tasks on its own and needs access to systems and data to do so. I want that to happen on infrastructure you control, with data that stays yours. That is what I am working on with Cloudstride, including our own tools. This website runs that way, by the way: on our own Kubernetes node in Germany, with an MCP server that lets agents talk to us.
